Sensor for the detection and measurement of the rotation angle of the plane of polarization of light supplied by a sensitive system (19) acted on by an external phenomenon, such as, for example, a magnetic field, whereby the sensor is connected by an optical fibre (12) to a source of incoherent light (10), and comprising essentially the sensitive system (19), a quarter-wave plate (22), a double refracting crystal (24) and a detector (26). The luminous flux supplied by the sensor is spectrally modulated according to the rotation angle of the plane of polarization of the light furnished by the above system (19).
