Three new immunostimulant polysaccharides (I)-(III) are claimed. (I) has an average mole wt. of 10,000 (range 5000-15,000) and has a structure of formula (A). (II) has an average mole wt. of 25,000 (range 20,000-30,000) and has a structure of formula (A). (III) has an average wt. of 110,000 (range 100,000-120,000) in 0.2M phosphate buffer and has a structure comprisinq units of formula (B), (c) and (D). (I)-(III) stimulate phagocyte activity in granulocyte and carbon clearance tests, (II) having the higest activity in these tests and also stimulating macrophage activity against P815 tumour cells. (III) also has high activity in the tumour necrosis factor test.
