The method of optimising the control characteristic of a controller (2,3,3'), esp. for an automatic measurement and test arrangement, involves simulating the dynamic properties of the control path (1) using a parameterised modelling equation. The equation is rapidly and iteratively matched to the control path whereby the control characteristic and dynamic characteristic adopt a predefined nature. The control parameter (V) rapidly follows the demand value (w) asymptotically. Filtering is used to optimise the control characteristic. USE/ADVANTAGE - Rapid and reliable optimisation of control characteristic of controller, esp. for automatic measurement and test system, e.g. for carburettor test stand.
