Biodegradable homo and copolyesters of aliphatic hydroxycarboxylic acids, (esp. polymeric homodilactides or their copolymers with diglycolides up to a molar ratio of 10:90 dilactide:diglycolide and m.wt. 5000-20000) have, in the form of monolithic implants, an in vivo and in vitro degradation and release behaviour after pseudonulled adjustment and a constant mass loss over a period of 3-10 weeks. USE/ADVANTAGE - The homo and copolyesters can be used as biodegradable carriers in parenteral long term release systems for special pharmaceuticals such as peptides, steroids or cytostatics, in human and veterinary medicine, and for various resortable surgical auxiliaries.
