Monitoring comprises measuring the potential difference between the anode (6) and steel (5) in a first measuring operation then producing an artificial short circuit outside of the concreting and measuring the change in potential during the short circuit. When no practical change in potential is recorded, a short circuit signal is given out. Pref. potential difference is measured under a current face condition. The change in potential between the two measuring phases is 1:70-1:10 to give signal out. Appts. has voltmeter (1) and/or evaluating circuit (14) with signal amplifier (15) connected to a threshold value switch (17) connected to a signal emitter (19). The anode (6) and steel (6) are externally connected outside the concrete body to a short circuit switch (12). ADVANTAGE - Short circuiting between anode and steel reinforcement produced during concreting is easily detected.
