New infectious acid-resistant rhinovirus strain - is e.g. mutant of serotype 14; for treating rhinovirus infection

New human rhinovirus is acid-resistant and infectious. DNA corresp. to all the viral RNA or parts of the viral RNA of the new human rhinovirus is also new. Oligopeptide coded from the DNA above is also new. Human rhinovirus is pref. a mutant of Serotype 14 and is esp. a mutation localised in the VP1-region (Asn100 is Ile) and/or in the VP2 region (Thr 17 is Ile) or in the VP1 region (Asn 101 is Glu) or VP2 region (Thr 17 is Ile). Human rhinovirus can be prepd. by incubating the wild type HRV at pH less than 5, esp. pH 4.5, then adjusting the pH to ca.7 and propagating. Cycle is repeated several times, pref. 3 times and the mutants produced isolated. USE/ADVANTAGE - Rhinovirus can be used in pharmaceuticals for the treatment of rhinoviral infections.
