Method of separating machine tool waste - has oil coated swarf pressed and fluid separated prior to heating or metal

Oil coated swarf and metal dust from e.g. alloy machining is pressed, the fluid is then separated and the solids subjected to heat treatment. Favourable temperatures are set and held throughout the pressing operation. The metal swarf and dust are extruded to granulate form and residual fliud finally removed at elevated temperature with exclusion of outside air. The equipment includes an edge mill (2) which is in part encapsulated and charged with ehater gas, using submounted die for the extrusion job and this in turn followed by a strand parter. USE/ADVANTAGE - Machine shops, swarf handling. Swarf freed of fluid e.g. cutting oils, extruded and easily stored, also recovering the oil.
