Braille pattern generator using serially polarised bimorph strips - produces standard eight=dot character by deflection of bimorph(s) contacted by upper and lower spring elements
Braille pattern generator using serially polarised bimorph strips - produces standard eight=dot character by deflection of bimorph(s) contacted by upper and lower spring elements
Tactile pins are driven by one or more piezoelectric flexural transducers fixed at one end and stressed by contact springs (4) connecting positive and negative sides of the bimorph (3) at the same time to an electronic controller. Wires from the latter are welded to a plane contact plate (1) in the housing (2). The bimorph (3) is curved towards either pole in accordance with the polarity of voltage applied to a central electrode. The springs (4) may be wires or strips. USE/ADVANTAGE - Depolarisation effects are excluded with the ceramic impacted only in the direction of polarisation.
