The electric motor (2) drives a threaded spindle (6) onto which a nonrotary thrust tube (11) having an internal thread is screwed. A starting switch (8) causes the motor (2) to propel a piston (1) into a compression chamber contg. a spring (9) until a limit switch (7) interrupts the current. When a catch (5) is engaged a reversing switch (4) causes the tube (11) to be retracted. After the projectile is discharged and the catch (5) reset, the piston (1) reverts to its starting position. ADVANTAGE - Defined quantity of precompressed air is produced without expenditure of muscular energy by marksman.
