A contour checking arrangement contains a position measurement device which monitors the deviation of a contour path movement in a processing machine (BM) during the motion of a compound table (KT) along a programmed contour path. A two-dimensional measurement scale (1) in the form of a crossed scale of the position measurement device is centrally arranged on the compound table. A position sensor unit (3) centrally mounted on the machine's spindle (SP) senses the scale as the table moves along the programmed path. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for checking circular shapes. Simpler and prevents possibility for error.
