A continuous band press for making chipboard or similar materials has a pressure table fitted with heating plates (11) with longitudinal heating medium passages. The heating plates have flat abutments against each other and the passages are connected to form several different heating zones. A temp. controller can provide a temp. profile across the band with reduced temps. towards the edges and a uniform temp. in the middle. Different heating zones can be provided in the longitudinal direction. A continuous band press has steel bands (5,6) supported by a recirculating roller bed (1) running on surfaces (13) which are fitted to platens (2,3). The surfaces (13) have several heaters (11) bolted to them. Each heater has several longitudinal passages filled with a circulating heating or cooling medium supplied through connections (21) and controlled to produce the required temperature profile. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple construction for achieving a controlled temp. profile while providing a continuous running surface for the support rollers.
