A contact avoiding gap (10) for the force measuring unit (1) is also formed outside the contact region of the measurer (2) at part (6) of the circumference. In addition, two parallel double bending beams (11) - lying opposite to each other - are arranged at right angles to the working line of the force. The beams are engaged respectively with one or more expansion measuring strips (12). The double bending beams are formed respectively at a slit type recess (13) in the measurer clamped locally on one side. Their other ends are connected to each other to be resistant to bending and so that the connection also acts as a brace. The cross-section of each double bending beam, at least in the region of the strain gauge(s), runs according to a mathematical function in such a way that its surface undergoes a constant deformation in each of its normal planes. ADVANTAGE - Long term stability ensured across entire measurement range at lower cost.
