A calender for mfr. of sealing plates comprises a large dia. heating roll with a fixed postion on which a sealing plate is built up by winding. The heating roll is mounted on a frame which also carries a smaller dia. backing roll. Control of the calender is by a microprocessor linked to a sensing probe. A simple method of cleaning the sensing probe is achieved if the probe is a sensing roller with a mechanism for lifting it away from the heating roll and holding it against a rotating brush. USE/ADVANTAGE - The calender is used to mfr. rubber sealing plates and has a simple facility to allow easy cleaning of the sensing roller. (0/5)
