Loudspeaker unit with walls joined at obtuse angles - increases indirect component of sound reproduced into region of overlap of loudspeaker pairs on pentagonal column

A column having five vertical walls, a top and a base carries pairs of treble loudspeakers, mid-frequency loudspeakers and bass loudspeakers in vertical arrays on two adjacent walls (9,11). The top and base are regular pentagons having internal angles (alpha) of 108 deg. The loudspeakers radiate into horizontal angles of more than 72 deg. so that their fields overlap in a pref. listening area where the stereo effect is enhanced by stronger indirect components. ADVANTAGE - Good tonal qualities are substantially independent of positioning of column and of the space around it.
