Electrode has a capillary (4) for liq. passage, formed in a cylindrical body (5) which has a central bore (6) and an outer vertical groove (7) and which is inserted in a cylinder (8) with a central bore at the end face (9). A diaphragm (1) is between the faces of the two bodies (5,8) for ionic contact between the passing soln. and a soln. in the space defined by the vertical groove (7) into which a metallic lead (2) extends. Pref. the diaphragm (1) comprises filter paper, glass wool, a porous hydrophilic membrane of cellulose acetate etc. ADVANTAGE - Minimises interaction of the eluant with the internal soln. of the electrode, and is chemically inert, easy to mfr. and fracture resistant.
