In composting system a crane-mounted transport and mixing head performs the loading, turning and mixing of the material to be treated, and (1) consists of an electro-hydraulic grab with two spreading rollers (2) which are driven by the grab motor (1) and can be switched on and off as required, or (2) a rotating grab drum; (3) provides a greatly increased oxygen uptake by continuously turning the material; (4) incorporates a means (4) for dosing the material with substances which promote the composting process, such as nutrients, enzymes or hydrogen peroxide. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in composting waste material e.g, from households, food industries and agriculture and contaminated soil. Existing composting systems provide a restricted ability to influence the living conditions of the composting microbiological flora, have a limited volume and an extended processing time, and tend to form lumps in the composting material. Under this system the process space can be as large as may be required, and the material is turned on a continuous basis so that lumps are broken up and the access of oxygen to the material is greatly increased. The composting process is thereby greatly accelerated.
