Flow distributor head for making connections to a micro/ultrafiltration module comprises a housing contg. a tubular, capillary or hollow fibre membrane bundle. (a) to one end of the housing are formed two independent fluid tight inlets; the first leading to the bundle end surface whilst the second leads to the outer surface of the capillary/hollow fibre membranes, and (b) the distributor has provided on one of its faces, an entrance to receive one end of the filter housing, and two opposed parallel sides, between which and perpendicular to the above entrance, are provided first and second liquid channels, which are sepd. from each other, but in the assembled module are linked by connecting channels, with each only connecting to one of the inlets in the filter housing. To maintain the arrangement and the diameters of the fluid channels, the distributor head is provided in different connecting channel formats. First channel connects with the end of the membrane bundle (the internal flow), and the second fluid channel connects to the external flow side of the tune, capillary, or hollow fibre bundle, or vice cersa. USE/ADVANTAGE - In fixed pipework, multi filter modulus systems to allow simple changeover of flow direction through the membranes, with the distributor heads remaining connected up. Avoids the problems of re-sealing and disproportionate flow rates.
