A tyre for heavy loads and high speeds, partic. for aircraft, has a carcass profile comprising a curved central part; a pair of curved lateral parts and a pair of curved side parts. At a pressure of 50000 Pa, the radius of curvature (R2A) of the lateral parts is less than that (R1A) of the central part but not less than that (R3A) of the side parts. At normal pressure, the radius of curvature (R2B) of the lateral parts is less than the (R1B) of the central part but not less than that (R3B) of the side parts. The radius of curvature (R1A) of the central part at 50000 Pa pressure is 1.0-3.0 times that (R1B) of the central part at normal pressure. ADVANTAGE - The curved profile carcass reduces the internal stresses and improves the distribution of pressure applied to the ground. The tyre life is extended.
