PURPOSE:To provide the titled alloy for a high performance magnetic head material enhanced in saturation magnetic flux density as an amorphous alloy and reduced in the absolute value of magnetostriction, by limiting the content of three elements, that is, Co, Nb and Zr in a specific atomic ratio range in a triangle figure. CONSTITUTION:When the sum total amount of three elements of Co, Nb and Zr is set to 100 and shown by a triangle figure, the content of each element of a Co-Nb-Zr amorphous magnetic alloy is present in a range formed by connecting points of (81% Co, 14% Nb, 5% Zr), (88% Co, 9% Nb, 3% Zr), (86.5% Co, 12.5% Nb, 1% Zr) and (81% Co, 18% Nb, 1% Zr) in an atomic ratio. This alloy is deposited to at least a part of a magnetic core by sputtering to form a high magnetic permeability material film. By the use of this amorphous alloy, a magnetic head excellent in head characteristics can be formed.
