PURPOSE:To provide an interactive numerical control device which allows users to handle various machining shapes without having to acquire particular skills and has an automatic programming function which is easy to use, by adding a finish symbol to those shape elements which are not intended to be machined, said elements contained in the machining shape menu. CONSTITUTION:A keyboard 11 is used to select any shape from the machining shape menu and to add a tilde '-' to those among the plural select shape elements which are not intended to be machined. A shape determining and processing part 14 treats the shape elements preceded by a tilde as an open part and creates the machining type and shape data which orders the device not to machine such elements.
