PURPOSE: To convert electric energy into pumping energy by axially displacing an impeller in a centrifugal pump so as to produce alternate flow of hydraulic pressure transmitting fluid so as to press-feed hydraulic fluid acting upon a membrane in a blood pump. CONSTITUTION: An impeller 1 feeds transmission liquid in a diffuser 2 so that the liquid acts upon a membrane in a blood pump, and then feeds the same into a chamber 3. The transmission liquid flows into the impeller 1 through an inlet port 4. The impeller 1 is coupled to a rotor 5 rotating in a stator 6. A blocking device 7 is fixed to the diffuser 2, and blocks any one of inlet ports of the impeller 1. Further, when the impeller 1 is displaced axially, the transmission liquid is fed into the diffuser 2, and the liquid enters through another inlet port. At this time, the previous inlet on the another side of the impeller 1 is blocked by another blocking device 7. Thus, the impeller 1 can reverse the flow of the liquid only by the requirement of axial displacement.
