PURPOSE: To obtain a visual effect of high resolution and to efficiently correct the real time videos by detecting the presence of an edge, making decision as to whether this edge is part of segment transition or not and moving the position of associated dots in accordance with this decision or changing the size of the dots, thereby correcting the edge. ;CONSTITUTION: A video image data VDOIN signal 406 is inputted to an FIFO buffer 302. The present pattern matrix having a TBAP (image to be adjusted) is then subjected to edge detection by an inclined mask edge detector 304 and is compared with the perpendicular group or horizontal group of the data with a perpendicular segment detector 428 and a horizontal segment detector 430. The data is then built into a prescribed default look-up table 432 with respect to the adequate modulation code associated with the present conditions. The modulated instruction code from this default look-up table 432 or an external look-up table 412 is inputted to a modulator 312 which delivers the modulated video signal VDOOUT 314.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
