The safe electrical wall socket has a female connector (1) mounted on the wall, with a cut-out switch (10,11) mounted in the live phase conductor leading to the socket connection. This may be a reed switch requiring a magnet near to it in order to close the contacts. The male plug carries such a magnet, so that when it is inserted in the socket, the socket becomes live. Removal of the plug causes the switch to open and the socket to be disconnected from the live supply. ADVANTAGE - Socket provides safety cut-out feature when plug is removed.
