The nozzle for relatively coarse atomising has an axial passage through the housing, whose dia. alters in steps. A prismatic slot is milled in the outlet end and there is a throttling insert between inlet and outlet. The passage through the housing contains a cylindrical central portion forming a differential pressure chamber, of larger dia. than the outlet. Guides on the insert deflect the jet sideways along the major axis of the outlet slot. Seen in the flow direction (14), there is a detachable cylindrical strainer support on the insert (23), forming the inlet, whose peripheral surface forms a cylindrical strainer (35).
