The rear eye pole or the yellow spot is illuminated by light beams with cyclically alternating direction of incidence, using a weak light source (L) movable in a circle, which is projected unfocused on the retina. The light source moved in a circle, which is held at a short distance from the pupil, comes in to operation, with the use of LEDs, which are arranged at the circle, and are electronically applied one after the other for the illumination. A mechanical shutter with a small aperture working as a light source can be moved in a circle. A mechanical light wave conductor moved in a circle can be used, the light outlet end of which acts as the light source. ADVANTAGE - Very simple engineering means are used, absolutely no danger in method and permits self testing.
