The magnetic field of the compensation current cancels out the magnetic field to be measured at the location of the thin layer strips. As compensation current conductors layer strip conductors (8-11) are used which are arranged in two planes (6) on both sides of the sensor plane (16), the length and breadth of which equal those of the magnetoresistive thin layer strips (12-15). The layer strip conductors are so connected to one another that the magnetic field in the magnetorestrictive thin layer strips is compensated. For each magnetorestrictive thin layer strip a layer strip conductor (10;9;11;8) lies in a plane (6). They are connected meander-fashion at their ends. USE/ADVANTAGE - Sensor formed on basis of sensor bridge of parallel ferro-magnetic magnetoresistive thin layer strips with Barber (RTM) poles.
