An image of the eye is recorded in a predetermined spectral region by a conventional infrared-sensitive CCD video camera equipped with an electronic shutter for a min. exposure time of up to 0.1 ms. When the camera shutter is opened by a synchronisation pulse, the eye under examination is irradiated by a source of infrared radiation, such as a conventional stroboscopic flashlamp, through an infrared filter. ADVANTAGE - Video image unaffected by external light e.g. sunshine. Subject eye strain minimised.
