The thermoelectric safety ignition uses a magnet with its energising winding in the current circuit of a thermoelement, heated by the gas flame, its armature attached to the valve rod for the combination valve providing the main gas flow and the ignition gas flow. The part of the operating rod (14) projecting into the housing chamber (8), defined by the sealing surface for the main valve and the valve seat of the ignition valve, carries a strap (25) with both ends (29) received in a slot (13) when the main valve is closed and the valve plate of ignition valve is in the open position. The strap (25) has an axial tongue (27) ensuring that its ends are outside the slot (13) when both valves are closed. ADVANTAGE - Simple construction, suitable for mass prodn.
