Hunting shotgun cartridges and rifle bullets are claimed, in which the shot and the bullets have streamlined teardrop shape with an air resistance value (cw) of 0.056, i.e. at least 8 times lower air resistance than commercial sports cartridges with solid ball shot charges or rifle bullets with a cylindrical shape having air resistance values (cw) of 0.45 and 0.70. The shot and the bullets may have guide ribs and may consist of main metal portion and a plastics rear portion. Pref. shot and the bullets have an energy and flight velocity loss of less than 5% in the first 100m. compared with 25-30% for commerical ball shot. ADVANTAGE - The cartridges and bullets require less powder charge, have greater effective range, produce less noise, provide increased target precision and stable flight velocity and produce a reduced scatter circle.
