Slop oil is heated to 105-135 deg.C in a heating circuit formed by a heater, column, and pump. The gases and steam are then drawn from the top of the column, and, from the bottom of the column, heated oil slops are taken, cooled, and, in a two-phase decanter sepd. into a centrifuged clean oil-phase and a solid phase. A large part of this oil is returned into the heating circuit, and only a small proportion of it is removed from the sepn. process. Pref. the slop oil is pumped through the heater at a speed of 3m/sec. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system, which is very economical and troublefree, separates oil slops or oil emulsions into water clean enough to be piped, solids, and reusable liq. hydrocarbons such as oil, petrol and non-condensable gases.
