The incoming compressed air and liquid mixture passes through a first nozzle piece (16) with an outlet (22). A second, replaceable nozzle piece (28) is positioned just behind the first nozzle piece to create an annular entrance gap (30). The passage of the compressed air and liquid mixture through the nozzle causes a pressure drop at the gap (30) and atomised liquid from the intermediate surroundings of the nozzle is sucked in directly or through a filter (44) to join the emerging jet.
