The commencement of the measurement duration is selected later than the flow commencement of an air mass flow. The end of the measurement duration is selected earlier than the flow end of an air mass flow. The commencement and/or end of the measurement duration are alterable dependent upon the load point. At the commencement and/or end of the measurement duration a measurement cross-section of a fuel measurement device is opened and/or closed in accordance with a spring function. During the measurement duration, the measurement cross-section dependent upon air mass flow is variably selected. USE/ADVANTAGE - To improve a homogeneous fuel-air mixt. for an internal combustion engine.
