Procedure for minimum stress waking of sleeping person - establishes sleep pattern for individual using suitable sensors and records data in pulse sensor for rousing during light sleep phase
The procedure for enabling a sleeping person to wake within a predetermined time (tz) when roused by a suitable signal is designed to minimise attendant stress by arranging the preset time (tz) to coincide with the naturally occurring repetitive phases of light sleep i.e. REM sleep-phasers (tREM). The individual's cyclic pattern of REM and non-REM sleep is established over a reference period using suitably recorded indicators e.g. eye movement, pulse, breathing etc. and the data is programmed into an armband or ear-clip pulse rate monitor. The preset waking time (tz) is always chosen to suit the pattern with any temporary alteration of the natural cycle effected by a brief interruption of sleep by signal during a non-REM phase. USE/ADVANTAGE - Assists waking experience to be as pleasant as possible. Alternation of normal cycle during non-REM i.e. deep-sleep phase is generally not noticed by sleeper.
