The flicker reduction system detects phase shift between stop pulses (BI), provided from rotation and angle of mirror stage, and video synchronisation pulses. The amplitude of the detected phase shift is used to regulate the amplitude of the video signal supplied by a camera (2) to a video memory (30). Pref. the detected phase shift is used as a control signal for a voltage-controlled amplifier (20) within the video camera. The phase shift is pref. provided by a programmable binary counter, coupled to the control input of the amplifier via an octal flip-flop and a D/A converter.
