A light-weight structure with a high capacity for energy absorption has at least tow fibrous components consisting of a rectangular plastic framework divided up inbto sections by parallel webs; each such section has a number of filaments which are generally disposed at right angles to the longer axis of the sections and whcih are bonded to the dividing webs or to the framework. The components themselves are stacked together along their larger sides so that the webs of adjacent components are set at 90 deg. to each other. ADVANTAGE - The prodns. are highly effective in distributing loads uniformly. They have high mechanical strength. They use min. material and are inexpensive.
