The union male half on the gas-supply source has a pressure-equalising control plunger (2) sliding in a gas chamber(3), actuating a stop valve (13) and actuated by the female half on the consumer. In the axial direction, the plunger comprises in succession a first compensating portion (6), a valve portion (10), and a second compensating portion (7). The compensating portions form gastight joints in guide cylinders (9) in the gas chamber, and are of the same cross-sectional area, while that of the valve portion is slightly larger. ADVANTAGE - Coupling needs virtually no effort.
