The invention relates to a device for protecting a lock, intended to render the keyhole (3) allowing operation of the said lock inaccessible to third parties, the device comprising a plate (1) secured to the door (2) provided with the said lock, and through which a slot passes giving free access to the said hole (2), and a flap (6) which can move in a vertical plane, by sliding over the front of the said plate, between at least two positions, a working position in which the flap covers over the hole (2) and a rest position in which the flap renders the said hole accessible. Its flap exhibits a recess (23, 24) extending from its face in contact with the front face of the plate; its plate includes a rocker (29) provided with a magnet (30) and placed in a chamber (31) hollowed out from the front face of the plate, the said rocker being able to move in a vertical plane between two positions, a working position in which it is inclined so as to emerge from the chamber and interact with the flap, preventing it from sliding, and a rest position in which it is embedded in its chamber, thus freeing the plate/flap interface.
