QUANTIFYING METHOD FOR HIGHLIGHT LINE

PURPOSE: To provide the method for quantifying the face quality of a work. ;CONSTITUTION: The light emitted from a halogen light source is formed into the highlight line and radiated to the body of an automobile. The highlight line is photographed by a CCD camera and fed to an image processing unit via the CPU of a quantification processor (step 101). The fed image data are converted into the picture element coordinate data (step 102). The converted data are binarized (step 103), and noises are removed (step 104). The data are converted into the rectangular coordinate data (step 105) for normalization. The cubic regression curve is approximated to an optional sampling point on the normalized highlight line and the radius of curvature and the direction of its center which are evaluation parameters are calculated (step 106).
