PURPOSE: To provide a compact micro strip antenna useful in a portable electronic device including a pager, a telephone, and a portable computer. ;CONSTITUTION: A micro strip antenna 200 includes a ground face layer 212, a dielectric layer 214, and a radiation patch 216 where a rectangular ring 250 is formed. The radiation patch 216 is short-circuited to the ground face layer 212 along a short circuit edge part 222. The ring may be so deviated that it is closer to the short circuit edge part 222 than a radiation edge part 220. The antenna can be fitted into a PCMCA slot conforming to standards of the portable computer. The compact antenna can be directed in a housing to optimize radiation from the antenna.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
