The fourdrinier has longitudinal filaments (4, 5; 6, 7) of the upper gp. which form sub-gps. of identical filament structures on the side(s) towards the paper. The longitudinal filaments (4, 5; 6, 7) of a sub-gp. lie side by side. Also new is a mfr. where the woven filaments are formed with shrinkable lateral filaments (2). After weaving, the structure (1) is heated to form the longitudinal filaments (4, 5; 6, 7) in the same structure side by side. As seen from the paper-support side, a sub-gp. of the longitudinal filaments (8) of the second gp. runs below two neighbouring longitudinal filaments (4, 5; 6, 7), and no longitudinal filaments of the second gp. are between two sub-gps. of longitudinal filaments (4, 5; 6, 7) of the first gp. The longitudinal filaments (8) of the second gp. are pref. only bonded in with lateral filaments (2) at the paper side where the filaments (4, 5; 6,7) of a sub-gp. float over those (8) of the second gp.. The longitudinal filaments (8) of the second gp. float over the lateral filaments (2) at the machine support side where they are bonded with the filaments (4, 5; 6, 7) of a sub-gp. over the lower filaments (8). The longitudinal filaments (4-7) of the first gp. are pref. each bonded with one lateral filament (2) at the machine side and, at the machine side, the filaments (8) of the second gp. float over 3-9 lateral filaments (2) and, at the paper side, are bonded with lateral filament (2). The filaments (4-7) have a mirror image bonding structure with the filaments (8) of the second gp.. The lateral filaments (2) are pref. hollow monofilaments, alternating with solid monofilaments. The hollow monofilaments are flattened for the lateral filaments (2). The lateral filaments alternate between larger and smaller dia.. At least the longitudinal filaments (4-7) of the first gp. are flat with a large extension along the woven line than at right angles to it in a cross-section ratio of 1.2:1-3:1. The filaments (4, 5; 6, 7) of a sub-tp. are in a displaced bonding structure along the running line against the filaments (4, 5; 6, 7) of a sub-gp. The longitudinal filaments (4 - 7) of the first gp. pref. have an identical cross-section shape and surface area. The fourdrinier is formed in a single layer. USE/ADVANTAGE - The fourdrinier forms a large contact surface area for the paper, with flexibility. The longitudinal filaments (4, 5; 6, 7) pref. also form a sub-gp. in a conventional woven structure.
