Abstract of the disclosureThe invention relates to novel polysilazanes, the prepara-tion thereof, the further processing thereof to formsilicon nitride-containing ceramic material, and thismaterial itself. In order to prepare the polysilazanes,dialkylaminoorganyldichlorosilanes of the formulaRSiCl2-NR'R' are reacted wtih ammonia. The polysilazanescan then be pyrolyzed to form silicon nitride-containingceramic material. The polysilazanes according to theinvention dissolve in customary aprotic solvents.
