A SYSTEM FOR CONTROLLING THE GROUND SPEED OF ANDENHANCING THE MANEUVERABILITY OF AN OFF-ROAD VEHICLEABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA system and method for controlling the ground speedand enhancing the maneuverability of an off-road vehiclehaving systems for initially establishing and thereafterautomatically returning the hydrostatic transmission to theneutral position, a pedal system interconnected with theneutral location and return system for selectively drivingthe vehicle in either the forward or the reverse direction,a brake system consisting of a left foot operated left andright turn brake subsystem which enhances the vehiclesmaneuverability, a right foot operated master brake systemwhich is used to bring the vehicle to a complete hault andfor emergencies, and a park brake system which is used tolock the brakes when the vehicle is at rest, a cruisecontrol system which is interconnected with the pedal systemand the brake system. The left foot operated turn brakesubsystem enables an operator to utilize the turn brakeswithout the cruise control engaged and without having totake his foot off the forward or the reverse pedal. Thecruise interconnections with the service brake and the pedalsystem provide a plurality of disengagement options for thecruise control system.
