ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA machine translation apparatus in which the sentenceconstruction of a source language entered by means of aninput device is analyzed in order to generate thecorresponding translated text after being converted into asentence construction in a target language, wherein themachine translation apparatus comprises a device fordetermining whether or not a word string obtained from asentence construction analysis is a proper noun with anacronym, a device for examining whether or not the numberof first letters of each of a certain number of wordscorresponds to the number of letters of the acronym, andalso for examining whether or nor these words areregistered in a dictionary, and a device for outputting thecorresponding term after it is translated into a targetlanguage, when the words are registered in the dictionary,and for outputting directly the words, whose number offirst letters corresponds to the number of the letters ofthe acronym, without translating them, when the words arenot registered in the dictionary.
