The present invention discloses a blend of cellulose acetate and starch acetate for use in fibers, filaments, yarns, plastic materials, and other uses. In particular, the invention covers a blend of 50-99% cellulose acetate with 1-50% starch acetate. Also, the invention relates to the process of making the blend, cigarette filters made from tow made of the blend, cigarettes made from filters made from the tow of the blend, filaments in fabrics containing the blend, acetate flake containing the blend and other compositions containing the blend.
