In the device disclosed, water is admitted into a peripheral gutter-shaped channel (6) and flows over the inner wall (9) of the channel, in the form of a weir, into a container provided with tubular elements (1) which constitute refrigerated cells in which the small ice blocks are formed. The water is supplied from a collector controlled by a float (12). A pump (8) delivers water into the gutter-shaped channel, where the vertical movement of the float controls the entry of the liquid and shuts off its flow. The device also comprises a control for the refrigeration and for the heating required for ejection as well as an ejection aid in the form of pushers (15). The water used to make the small ice blocks drains down an inclined ramp (16) into a collector (17) and is recycled by a pump. The device, which is suitable for making small ice blocks for drinks and the like, is compact, has a high output and consumes little water.
