Dewatering of products, esp. sludges, fruit pulp etc. - by passing product on belt pressing drum with pressing element having flexible surface and moving with drum through ninety degrees and returning to initial position

In a new procedure for de-watering, a belt (2) carrying the product (3) passes over part of the circumference of a pressing drum (5), and an element (7) with a pressing surface (11) is applied to the belt at a pre-adjustable pressure and moves synchronously with the drum over a certain distance along its circumference, after which the pressure is released and the pressing element returns to its initial position. Also claimed is an appts. for carrying out the procedure, in which the pressing element has an elastic surface (11) and is mounted on a support system (9, 10). USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for de-watering sludges and for extracting juice from fruit pulp etc. A high rate of productivity is achieved, and in particular problems with the shear strengths of the filter cake are avoided and a high degree of de-watering is made possible.
