The press is used for laminates with at least three successive layers and has a loading device, upper and lower cooperating press plates (3,4) and an ejection device. The press plates each have replaceable press sheets (6,7) which are inserted and removed via a sheet changing carriage (8), lifted into alignment with the upper press sheet (7) which is received by a support surface (9) and lowered to bring a suction device (10) into alignment with the lower press sheet (6). The sheet changing carriage is displaced between a parked position and a working position between the open press plates with press sheet storage stations on either side of its displacement path, each with at least one storage magazine.
