An electrical machine (21) with a stator and rotor has one or more coils (U,V,W) contg. several windings whose ends are connected to first connections of a fault simulator with further connections to measuring equipment. The coil has two tappings which can be connected to connections of the simulator, a few of which are connected together to simulate a fault-free or faulty electrical machine. The coil has two open circuits between its windings, between which several windings lie. Tappings are arranged at the free winding ends adjacent to the open circuits. USE/ADVANTAGE - For electrical machines e.g. single phase or DC motors, with fault detection systems. Fault detection systems are tested under practical conditions.
