New metal chelates (I) are claimed, which are obtd. by reacting aromatic tricarboxylic acids or derivs. with (hetero)aromatic amines of formula (II), where A = a 5-6 membered aromatic ring, opt. contg. 1-2 hetero-atoms; R1 = -COOH, -XNH2, -XNHR2 or a gp. of the formulae (III), (IV), (V), (VI), (VII), (VIII); where x = CO, CS, SO, SO2, C= NR3, -P(=O)-NH2 or -P(=O)-NHR3; R2-3 = 1-12C alkyl, 6-20C aryl or 7-20C arylalkyl; Y = CH2, O, S or NR2; and then complex formation by adding gp. IB, VIA, VIIA or VIII metal salts. Organic ferromagnets obtd. by converting (I) to nitrosyl cpds. are also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are used in the prodn. of organic ferromagnets (claimed). The ferromagnets are esp. useful in microelectronics. The ferromagnets are lightweight and easily processed.
