The string of the musical instrument, esp. double base, is cleaned by a liq. cleaning agent for removing grease. The string is taken off and placed in a bath contg. the cleaning agent for 5 to 10 minutes. It is then taken out, rubbed dry with a cloth, and left for 5 to 10 minutes before being placed on the instrument. The bath is moved during the treatment period. The string is loosened, rubbed with a cloth impregnated with the cleaning agent, and rubbed dry with a dry cloth. The string can be cleaned by ultrasonically stimulated liq. in the bath. The bath is a plastic circular water-tight container closed by a plastic lid. The interior is filled with sponge impregnated with the cleaning agent. USE/ADVANTAGE - The tone and shine of the string for a double bass are improved by the player's skin sebum and sweat being removed by a cleaning agent.
